Cassie holds an MFA in Writing for Young Adults from Hollins University and an MA in English Literature with an emphasis in Trauma Theory from Cal State Fullerton. A New England transplant, she spends her time globe-trotting with her adventurous husband, Carl; wandering old cemeteries in her quaint coastal town; or—when the wind shifts in the right direction—trying to write with an overly talkative cat named Maui in her lap. Cassie’s interests include hunting for sea glass, shooting archery, creating stained-glass art, and obsessing over all things Halloween. She is the author of two YA contemporary novels, After the Ink Dries and The Secrets We Keep, both #1 Amazon bestsellers.
Longer bio:
I hail from Northern California and “majored in words,” earning a dual-BA in Comparative Literature and Spanish at UC Santa Barbara, an MA in English Literature at Cal State Fullerton, and an MFA in Writing for Young Adults at Hollins University. Before finding my way to writing, I served high tea at a 5-star B&B, tended plants in a lavender greenhouse, and, most recently, nannied and taught preschool.
A New England transplant, I enjoy ping-ponging around the globe with my adventurous pilot husband, Carl, or cuddling our fluffy black kitty, Maui. Current obsessions include hunting for sea glass, shooting archery, exploring old cemeteries, decorating cupcakes, creating stained-glass art, and collecting far too many Halloween decorations. Depending on the day, you may find me working on my next novel or, more likely, daydreaming of flinging myself about on sliding ladders attached to built-in bookshelves.
My work has garnered the PEN New England Susan P. Bloom Discovery Award, the Shirley Henn Creative Writing Award, the Ruth Landers Glass Scholarship, and was a runner-up for the Houghton Mifflin Hardcourt Scholarship.
I am the author of two YA contemporary novels, After the Ink Dries and The Secrets We Keep, both from Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers and #1 Amazon bestsellers.
